FNB Bursary _ the 2022/2023 bursary program for students is ongoing, in line with the Fund Bursary Program of the FNB.

Eligible South African citizens can apply for the opportunity before the closing date. Also, the bursary will select for competence, good reference, and other criteria specified in the eligibility list.

About First National Bank (FNB) Bursary: Roadmap

Founded in Grahamstown in 1838, FNB currently operates as a subsidiary of First Rand Limited.

Other units of First Rand are Rand Merchant Bank and Wesbank, both operating in South Africa as part of a large entity.

In the current program, FNB Bursary partially funds the tuition, accommodation, and other requirements for the student’s course period. Eligible applicants can access the funds via the Financial Aid Office in their various universities.

Alternatively, the funds can be accessed through the National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS).

All eligible students can apply for the bursary provided they meet the criteria and submit their applications before the closing date. FNB Bursary 2022/2023 closes on September 30, 2022.

What It Stands For

According to the FNB.CO.ZA webpage titled Looking for Bursary,

“We have identified a need for greater access to tertiary education among financially deserving students who show strong academic potential.

To this end, we have partnered with reputable bursary service providers to offer access to education, as well as providing extensive mentorship and support to the students.”

It seeks talents from diverse academic fields, intending to groom thought leaders and foster a recruitment base for the national workforce. That is why undergraduates are likewise eligible for the program.

How to Apply for FNB Bursary Program 2022/2023

You can apply for the FNB Bursary program using the following documents _

  • Valid ID
  • Self-written personal description,
  • Evidence of parents’/guardian(s)’s/spouse’s salary, verifiable from the tax return pay slip
  • Your most recent exam results (not more than two years before the application
  • Provide two (2) references (testimonials) from a religious or community leader and a second one from a teacher (preferably a lecturer)
  • Also, provide matriculation results.

Eligibility: Who Can Apply for the Program?

Only students who meet the following criteria may apply for the FNB Bursary program.

The applicant must be a South African citizen who possesses strong academic qualifications.

Demonstrably in financial need

Matric/NSC must not be older than two (2) years before the application

Applicants must be an undergraduate or have an offer to study at a South African university.


A Bachelor of Science (including Engineering) requires at least sixty percent (60%) score in English and Mathematics, while Bachelor of Business Science and Bachelor in Communications require the same threshold score in only Mathematics and English.
